Social Media Selectiveness
Goodbye Google+, Pinterest, Instagram, and Twitter (both accounts).
LinkedIn, I have my eye on you. Facebook, don’t even.
Today I started cleansing myself of what I’ve determined to be useless accounts. Maybe it is the political climate. Maybe I’m just tired of confessing. Either way, I’ve let go of five accounts and I’m not afraid to do more.
I hope I’m on the leading edge of a wave of New Privacy. Perhaps the existential thrill of baring it all is waning. I can’t speak for anyone else but myself. I’m just tired of it all.
And yes, I get the irony of confessing this on an ancient blog that I’ve let lapse into oblivion. But maybe the blog had it right all along. Maybe the blog allowed us to have some content in the midst of frivolity. I can’t be sure yet. I’ll decide in a few days when the thrill of deletion has ebbed a bit.
